Yes To Grapefruit Facial Scrub…You Smell Delicious

Hey Grimms,

It’s time to say yes to…. Yes To 😀

See what I did there? Sigghhh… I’m really much too clever for my own good.

Moving on, today we will be taking a look at a cruelty free skincare product brought to you by Yes To. This is actually the first product I have tried from this company so I’m pretty pumped. Specifically I tried Yes To Grapefruit Correct and Repair Daily Facial Scrub.

Damn. That was a mouthful. Incredible long name aside let’s hear what the manufactures had to say about it.

“Yes to Grapefruit Daily Facial Scrub is a gentle daily exfoliator to help slough away dead skin cells and restore your skin’s natural radiance. It is formulated with Lemon Balm to help calm and repair damaged skin and Grapefruit, which naturally evens skin tone and enhances luminosity, leaving skin soft, smooth, and naturally hydrated. MAKES SKIN BRIGHTER, CLEARER, AND MORE RADIANT! 99% Natural Petroleum, SLS, & Paraben Free Cruelty-free…”

Time for the cons and pros!

It’s a little drying on my skin. I believe I have mentioned this before but I tend to have dry skin especially during the winter months. Right now where I live I’m in the throws of winter and my skin has hit its highest dry point. I don’t know what it is about the winter that sucks moisture out of me but it does.

So while this product claims to be hydrating I have to disclose that I don’t feel like it is hydrating enough for my skin type. I think that if you had oily or combination skin you would be fine for you but if you have dry skin like me than you will want to use this in combination with a moisturizing face lotion.

Honestly you should be using a moisturizer anyway but that is a post for another day.

Luckily for me I have a moisturizer that works lovely for me (also a post for another day), which helps to diminish the fact that this product can create dry skin for me.

Only US costumers can currently buy online from their official website, sorry international friends. The plus side is this product is sold IN STORES and through their various websites at many drug, mass, and grocery stores throughout the world. You can use their nifty Find A Store page to find a location near you.

I am so in love with this product and I can’t wait to try more!!! The grapefruit smells amazing. I love opening this bottle every single time. I also really do feel like my skin looks more radiant afterwards. Honestly I feel like my skin is glowing when I’m finished using this.

My skin also feels nice and smooth afterwards. It’s clear to me that the exfoliators in this product are doing their job and scraping all my dead skin cells away for the day. Beautiful work team!

As you all know from my Acure Facial Cleansing Gel… Not For Me I have fairly sensitive skin. You also know from my blog in general that I spend a lot of my days wearing making. I need a facial scrub that is tough enough to cut through my makeup but gentle enough not to cause massive breakouts!

I’ve been using this product for two months and so far it more than does the job. What a find I say! Not only is it perfect for my skin (in tandem with my moisturizer), leaves my skin smooth and radiant, and scrubs away my makeup but it does all of that for only $9.99!!!

What is this madness?! I’m so happy I found such a great product for such an amazing price. Did I mention that it is also made in the USA. You know what that means? None of my time is spent pondering if this product was made in a sweatshop or not. Making it all the more worth it.

Oh, and the fact that it is Leaping Bunny certified is a big deal. To be approved by Leaping Bunny your product has to prove that it is clear of animal testing from all stages of product development. You also have to renew your certification every year and be open to independent audits. Basically you can rest assured that not a single thing about this product was tested on animals.

Final Thoughts

I cannot wait to try more products from this company! You all will be seeing more of Yes To on GrimmGirl I can promise you that! If you want to check out this product for yourself click on the link below (if you’re in the USA) if you need to find a store near you click on the “Find A Store” link above.

Happy Skincare ❤

Acure Facial Cleansing Gel… Not For Me.

Review time!

Today for your reviewing pleasure I have decided to take a look at another Acure product. I have reviewed one of their facial masks and you can read all about that in my Acure: Cell Stimulating Facial Mask post. Instead of reviewing another facial mask I will actually be talking about one of their facial cleansers.

I will be up front with this and tell you that this was not my favorite face wash that I have ever used. There are definitely some pros and cons with this product that I will be going through. So be prepared to be hit with some knowledge with this review. First and foremost let’s see what Acure has to say about their Facial Cleansing Gel with superfruit and chlorella for combo to oily skin.

“This gentle antioxidant rich cleanser is hard at work, washing away dirt and oil while removing makeup to leave your skin radiant and refreshed. Won’t strip your skin’s natural acid mantle for superior moisture balance and protection. Wash away those worries!” – Acure

As always I will start with the cons of this product and end with the pros. I personally like to end my reviews on a good note ❤

I could not get this cleanser off for the life of me. I don’t know what it was about this cleanser (maybe it’s the gel) but I always felt like I had a slight residue left over. No matter how much I rinsed my face off with a washcloth or whatever I could still feel this slight film to it. I really don’t like that.

When I first started using this cleanser things seemed to be going pretty great. My skin was looking really good but every once in awhile my face would break out. This usually happened around the time I’d get my period so I attributed it to hormones rushing about. Can’t fault a cleanser for crazy hormones after all.

As time wore on though my breakouts started to get closer together and they began to last longer. Next thing I knew I went an entire month with a breakout. I now believe this has more to do with the fact it feels like it leaves residue behind. My skin can be pretty sensitive and I think after a while it just couldn’t handle it.

Speaking of my sensitive skin this product also seems to really dry my skin out. Luckily I have a moisturizer I can use but seriously this gel cleanser seems to dry it out more than my usual facial cleansers have.

There were some pros to this product though. A little goes a long way and it lathers up rather nicely. I also like how it smells. Some cleansers smell so… I don’t even know a word for it! They smell so medical. Does that make sense? This product has a nice smell to it.

It’s vegan, sulfate, paraben, and cruelty free. Those are all really important things so I’m giving them brownie points for that. In fact that is originally why I decided to try this product in the first place.

Acure’s Facial Gel Cleanser also comes at a fairly decent price. A four fluid ounce bottle it going to run you about ten bucks. That’s really not that bad at all. You can also find Acure products at Target, many food co-ops, and online. So the availability is a selling point.

My skin did not like this product. That being said skin types are so different that just because it didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it wouldn’t work for your skin. This isn’t an overly expensive product so I think it is worth the gamble to try it out for yourself. If it doesn’t work out you’re only out ten dollars, which isn’t terrible.

This product is cruelty free and vegan (which means no animal products are used to create it) so you have the peace of mind that you are not harming animals in anyway while using this facial cleanser. There are more products coming out like this but there isn’t a huge market available so I would give it a shot if you’re in the market for a new cleanser and can’t find another brand.

That being said I would go into it with some lower expectations. I don’t want you to be incredible disappointed if it turns out your skin reacts to this cleanser the way my skin did. If you have sensitive skin you might want to skip this product all together.

Also if anyone has used this product before please comment below. I would be curious to see if I was the only one who seemed to have these issues or if it was common among users. I think that would help provide a lot of insight.

By Nature from New Zealand: Nourishing & Refining Face Mask

Hello GrimmGirl Community!

If you are new to the site, just a little background, all products reviewed are cruelty-free. I love animals just as much as I love anime 🙂 So I hope you will enjoy this post and explore the Otaku side of GrimmGirl as well.

Today I will be reviewing a skincare product from By Nature from New Zealand. As you can tell from their name this product is manufactured in New Zealand so we have the added bonus of being sure it was not made in a sweatshop. I will be reviewing their Nourishing & Refining Face Mask, which they describe as:

“… A rich formulation infused with a unique combination of New Zealand natural ingredients including soothing Manuka Honey, Organic Rosehip Oil, Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid and soothing Aloe Vera.

The Organic Rosehip Oil and Aloe Vera soothe and moisturize the skin whilst Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid promotes firmness.

Use as part of your skin care routine to give your face the extra nourishment and treatment it deserves. This mask will warm your skin, opening the pores thereby enabling the powerful natural active ingredients to deliver optimum benefit to the skin, promoting a smoother, healthier, radiant complexion.”

Those are some pretty bold claims so let’s see if this product lives up to its hype.

I’m beginning to think I must be a cheapskate because my first con is almost something to do with the price. That being said, why break away from tradition? A box of this Nourishing & Refining Face Mask is going to run you $12.99 (not including shipping and handling if you order online) which doesn’t seem horrible until you realize that there are only five face masks in there.

My other con is this whole “warming” of the skin claim. It did not warm my skin. In fact it was freezing cold. So the second time I used it I just stuck the packaging in some hot water first and then applied it. I paid $13 for this mask and I was going to feel some warming sensations!

It smells amazing. I really love the smell of that rosehip oil. You notice it as soon as you open the packaging. Since you put it on your face your face smells amazing after words too. I really like that it doesn’t smell all chemically like some face products.

I could feel and see the effects after using it. My skin looked brighter, felt firmer, and even without out moisturizing it was soft to the touch. It can also be used for all skin types! That’s a huge bonus because now everyone reading this can enjoy.

I also really like that the back of the packaging explains what the Manuka Honey, Rosehip Oil, and Collagen is used for. This product is also free of parabens, phenoxyethanol, silicone, formaldehyde, and artificial colors. Basically it doesn’t have a lot of junk that isn’t necessary to the product. There also non-comengenic so they will not block pores.

I bought my product in stores but they do have an online store. However at this time I’m not 100% sure all the countries they ship to. They’re website isn’t exactly clear on this either.

You will look like a total creeper while wearing this lol That’s the price you pay for a good product I guess

Final Thoughts

In my opinion this product is… worth it.

I use this mask once a month, which solves the price problem, and I stuck it under some hot water first (while it was still in its packaging) which solved the warmth problem. Once they were solved I was only left with pros!

This was the first product I used through this company and I plan on trying out more things. Oh, and did I mention they have a 100% guarantee policy or you money back? Cause they do. So I say give it a shot, and if you don’t like it just return it within 30 days in it’s original packaging. You can look it up for yourself by clicking the link below.

Acure: Cell Stimulating Facial Mask

Well today is a fun day because I’m adding a new category to GrimmGirl’s GrimmStyle section. As you can see I will now be reviewing and discussing skincare products. Just like with my makeup products all the products talked about will be from cruelty-free companies. I hope you all enjoy this new venture.

The first product I will be discussing comes from Acure Organics. This is company that prides itself on its ability to create cruelty free, sustainable, and vegan products. While not all of their products are vegan a vast majority of them are which I think is pretty cool.

Skincare is important whether you wear makeup or not all though I do believe if you wear makeup regularly you really need to take your skincare very seriously. As much as I love my makeup I know that it can wreak havoc on my skin. For this reason I try to be pretty strict about my skincare routine. One thing I like to do is a facial mask at least once a week.

Lately I’ve been trying out Acure’s Cell Stimulating Facial Mask. It is described as:

“Work over your cells with the power of Moroccan argan stem cells and chlorella growth factor, a true synergy of cell revitalization. French green clay draws out impurities while Moroccan argan oil, CoQ10 and sea buckthorn oil provide moisture. Serious cell repair.”

Apply it evenly over your face for 10-15 minutes and let it work its magic.

Acure Facial Mask

Come Through Facial Mask

It comes in a pretty small bottle and I feel like I have to use a lot of product to get it over my face. It comes in a 1.75 fl. oz. bottle, which is not very big at all. I really wish it came in a bigger bottle.

This Cell Stimulating Facial Mask is also $10. I’m going to be honest with it being $10 I really wish that it came in a bigger bottle especially with how much product I feel like I need to use in order to apply it evenly to my face.

The one good thing about this product is that even though it is in a smidge bottle, I only use it once a week so I don’t go through the product incredible fast. So that at least makes me feel a little better about spending so much.

This facial mask can be used for all skin types. I like that because I do feel like this product works it’s awesome that I can recommend it for everyone. I also like how it feels on my face. After using this product I can say that it did draw out the impurities on my face. I particularly use it in my T-Zone area on my face and afterwards I could see that it was drawing out my blackheads out. As gross as that may sound, it’s a good thing.

This mask is also vegan, sulfate free, paraben free, and cruelty-free. So you have the added bonus of knowing that what you’re putting on your face isn’t harming your face. You would be surprised at how many skincare products out there actually have terrible things in their formula for your face.

Final Thoughts

I recommend this product! I admit the cons freely but to me they are worth it. Cell Stimulating Facial Mask does exactly what it says it will do and on top of that the ingredients used gentle on your face. The company also works on being sustainable so you have to hand it to them for their company slogan, “Acure for your skin, Acure for the planet.” This product works and is good for my skin, the planet, and the animals. Totally worth $10.
