Behind the Voice of… Yuu Nishinoya

I have been considering doing posts on voice actors for sometime now and I have finally decided to go for it! This is going to be a fun series that I will continually do for GrimmGirl where everyone will get a chance to learn a little bit more about some of my (and hopefully your) favorite voice actors.

For my first post I couldn’t help but feature the man behind the voice of one of my favorite characters Yuu Nishinoya… Nobuhiko Okamoto!

Nobuhiko Okamoto has been lending his voice and bringing characters alive since 2006. I believe he made his first substantial appearance as John Brown in Ghost Hunt. Since then he has been all over the place!

If you think he only has voice acting on his mind you have another thing coming. Nobuhiko Okamoto is also known for his singing abilities. That’s right he has graced the charts with his J-Rock/J-Pop vocal talents.

While he released his EP Palette some time ago you might also recognize his voice in the opening themes for anime Place to Place and World War Blue where he sings with a few other talented singers. I personal could not resist sharing this video of him singing Good Company for the Disney CD. I mean are you serious right now? I’m dying.

To be honest he has lent his voice to a lot of different characters, way to many to list! Some of his most well known characters (besides Noya of course!) include Rin Okumura (Blue Exorcist), Karma Akabane (Assassination Classroom), Takeru Fujiwara (Prince of Stride Alternative), and Katsuki Bakugo (My Hero Academia).

Did you know that he also uses his voice for dubs used in Japan? I didn’t! I was so surprise to learn that in the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince his voice is used to for Marcus Belby! On top of that he is also the voice of Norman Bates in the Bates Motel dub. He’s so talented! Exactly what I would expect from the voice behind my beloved Noya.

So what does someone this busy do to relax? Apparently he’s an avid video game player when he’s not to busy crushing it at Shogi. Yeah he currently holds a Shogi Certification in 3rd class. Oh, and did I mention he is also the host of the radio show RADIO 4Gamer Tap which you can all watch on their Youtube channel 4GamerSP… You’re welcome.

Finally just to through this out there he also voices for video games and drama CDs. Basically he is out there working 24/7 and I am totally impressed! I mean his work ethic is impressive, you really can’t help to look up to someone who has accomplished so much at the age of 29.

I hope you all enjoyed this addition of Behind The Voice! I can’t wait to do another one very soon. Any body else having a fangirl moment after listening to Noya- I mean Okamota sing? :p
