Hello, hello! Today’s post is all about Too Faced Cosmetics Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick. I would like to thank everyone who has followed my Snapchat (@katrinasade) and who tuned into my first impressions snaps for this product on Thursday. I’m hoping to make that a regular thing since it received such a positive response. I’m pretty pumped to finally have a full review up.
Too Faced Cosmetics describes their product as:
“Matte color gets a Melt-over! Our innovative formula glides over lips like a gloss but dries to an ultra-matte opaque finish. Infused with a no-sting lip plumper and filler, Melted Matte ensures color always looks rich, full, and kissable- never dry, shriveled or cracked. Doe-foot applicator comfortably coats lips in bursts of intense, saturated matte color that lasts for hours.”
It’s obvious that Too Faced has set some pretty high expectations for their product so I was interested to see if it would live up to the description. I will admit right now that I wasn’t disappointed. If you happened to catch my first impressions snaps you’ll know that I was really digging it from first application. So with that in mind let’s get into the cons and pros.
The big con for me with this product is the price. It is $21.00 (plus shipping and handling if you purchase it online), which makes it one of my more expensive lipsticks in my makeup bag. So if you are going to purchase this item you are really going to have to ask yourself if the pros of this product make it worth the price. That answer is going to be different for everyone.
There are so many things I love about this product! I don’t know what they change in their Melted Lipstick formula to make it matte but it is seriously working. This product has come along way since my review only their original Melted Lipstick, Melted. Melted Right Off. If the title doesn’t clue you in, I was not impressed.
This new matte version though blew me away. The application of this product is perfection. It really does feel like a gloss as your applying which makes the application incredibly easy. I’m not sure what they did with the formula this time around but I had no problem with it drying down like I did with their original Melted Lipstick.
The pigmentation of this product was also on point. I didn’t have to go back in a bunch of times because it was streaky or anything along those lines. The product glided on smoothly and provided full vibrant coverage, exactly as promised.
Its lasting ability isn’t something to sneeze at either. I wore it for hours and by the end of my day when I was taking it off, I practically had to use the jaws off life to remove it. I used my makeup wipes, face cleaners, and lip scrub to remove it and there were still traces left! Throughout the day it stayed smooth looking with out that annoying flaking (I hate when my lipstick flakes!) and I think the color itself was fantastic.
I used the shade Unicorn and I honestly think that it is one of those unique shades that work for everyone. However if this isn’t a shade that you feel comfortable in, don’t sweat it. The good news about this product is that it comes in 17 different colors. Not only do they have bold colors like Unicorn (a bright orchid), Mrs. Roper (a bright tangerine), and Evil Twin (a deep black cherry) but they also carry nudes like Cool Girl (a true nude) and reds and pinks like Lady Balls (a true red) and 1998 (a bubble gum pink). I’m sure you will find a color that fits you!
I am also in love with its applicator. It is so much easier to apply then that sponge thing they used with their original Melted Lipstick series. The doe-foot applicator is amazing and really helps to make sure your not going out of your lip line any more than you want to.
I haven’t been this excited about a lipstick since I tried my first Jeffree Star product! I realize it is a pricey product but I’m willing to pay a little extra for a product I love. I’m adding this to my list of products to save up for because I can already tell that this is a lipstick that I’ll collect like Pokémon… Gotta catch ‘em all.
