*Since the original publication of this post I have learned that NYX is owned by L’Oreal. L’Oreal is a company that test their beauty products on animals. To learn more about what this means for NYX Costmetics and why I will no longer review their products on GrimmGirl please read IS NYX Cosmetics Cruelty Free? Turns Out… Not Exactly.
For today’s cruelty-free product we will be taking a close look at Nyx Cosmetics Liquid Suede Crème Lipstick. I do enjoy a good liquid lipstick. You all know this about me so it was only a matter of time before I did a review of this product.
Nyx Cosmetics describes their product as:
“Doll up your lips in plush and vibrant color! Our Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick glides on and sets into a striking matte finish… This waterproof lippie creates a positively polished look with every swipe.”
So with that being said let’s get into the cons and pros of this product.
Cons
All right just like with my review of Nyx Cosmetics’ Lingerie I have to say that I hate the applicator. Honestly I can’t let this go. Why, why, why did anyone think having a simple stick would a great applicator? What is the point of this? Sigh it really does push my buttons because I do find it harder to apply then it should be.
… It smells strange. This isn’t a huge deal but I feel like it is worth noting so that it doesn’t surprise you when you first apply. It is a strong smell for sure. I’m assuming that it is just the smell of it’s raw formula since I do not believe Nyx Cosmetics scents their lip products so there is really nothing to be done about it, but again I didn’t want it to come as a surprise to anyone.
It takes forever to fully dry. I must be spoiled because I honestly feel like it takes a good ten minutes for it to be done drying. This is a bit annoying to me.

Pros
It’s only $7 * color me surprised * I’m not being sarcastic. That is a damn good price for a cruelty-free product. Not only is it $7 but it also comes in 24 different colors. I don’t care who you are, I’m sure you will find a color that you enjoy with this product. Not only does Nyx carry your typical reds, pinks, and nudes they also break out of the box with blues, purples, and blacks. I like the amount of choices available for the cost. Awesome.
Nyx also has availability. Not only can you purchase their Liquid Suede Lipstick on their website you will find their products in stores. For example I picked up my shade of cherry skies at my local Ulta. I think this is an important selling point because it’s nice to know you aren’t going to have to wait ages for a restock.
Finally, even though this lipstick takes awhile to fully dry once it dries it’s pretty much stuck there. It’s not lying about being waterproof either. You are going to have to bring out the big guns to get this bad boy off. With that being said I would like to point out that I don’t find it to feel yucky on my lips like some products do. In fact I feel like this product is well named because if you put suede on your lips I bet it would feel like this! It doesn’t get sticky or feel heavy on my lips. I guess if I had to describe it, it basically feels like having a crème lipstick on. Which again does live up to it’s name.

Summary
I recommend this product, especially if you are on a budget. We can’t all afford to by $20 lipsticks every other day so this is a good alternative. Since it comes in a variety of colors I feel positive that everyone can find a shade they love. This is a product that delivers on a budget. Is it the best lipstick I’ve ever used? No. However it is far from the worst. I personally will be purchasing more shades in the future (shade Stone Fox I’m looking at you)!

I’ll admit that is def the drawback of this lipstick 😕 But I do like that when it (finally) does dry it takes a lot of effort to get off!
