*Since the original publication of this post I have learned that Too Faced is owned by Estee Lauder. Estee Lauder is a company that test their beauty products on animals. To learn more about what this means for Too Faced Cosmetics and why I will no longer review their products on GrimmGirl please read Is Too Faced Cruelty Free? Turns Out… Not Exactly
Today we really are going to switch it up. I was noticing that lately I’ve either been doing lipstick or eye shadow reviews so I thought I’d throw a curve ball and talk about bronzer. It is summer after all and it’s nice to get that sun kissed look without the skin cancer, am I right?
So what bronzer is currently making my skin looking summer ready? None other than Too Faced Cosmetic’s Matte Chocolate Soleil Bronzer of course. Awwwwww yeah.
I have not been this pumped about a product from Too Faced since I wrote my Just Peachy review for their delicious Peach Palette. Very similar to when I wrote about the Peach palette I have very few (if any) cons when it comes to this product.
Too Faced describes their chocolate matte bronzer with the following description:
“Go ahead and indulge yourself. You won’t add pounds when you deep into our antioxidant- rich, cocoa-licious, zero-calorie bronzer; Just an irresistible, all-over deep tan.”
So let’s discuss the cons and pros!
That marketing pitch.
Okay, okay, I know that doesn’t really have anything to do with the product itself but I can’t help but point out that the above sales pitch is lame.
I just get sick of that stupid mentality that comes with woman. Like we’re all soooo afraid of gaining weight or something that we even worry about when things smell like chocolate. Come one Too Faced and get your marketing teams’ lives together. You’re better than that.
This bronzer is $30. I’m listing it as a con because I realize not everyone has the money to drop $30 every other day. I consider this a makeup investment.
Once again they have that scent on lock. It smells delicious and makes my face smell delicious. I am so okay with that.
It also has a really smooth consistency, which makes it perfect for blending and getting that gorgeous sun-kissed summer look. I also love that it’s matte. I’m personally not a huge fan of a shimmery bronzer on my face. Mostly because I have a decent sized forehead and a bronzer with simmer seems to just highlight that to the extreme. No thank you. So a matte bronzer is music to my ears.
This bronzer also comes in three shades; Milk Chocolate Soleil, Chocolate Soleil (that’s the shade I have), and Dark Chocolate Soleil. The Chocolate Soleil worked really well with my skin tone.
Finally, as I mentioned above this product is $30 but I would also point out that it is pretty long lasting. You don’t need to soak your brush in order to get your golden look. A little goes a long way. I’ve had this bronzer for a while now and I’m not even close to hitting the bottom of the pan. So while it may be a little pricey it’s not like you’ll have to drop that kind of money every month, which is a plus in my opinion.
This is my favorite bronzer. I love that it is cruelty-free, matte, and has great pigment. I don’t have to cake this onto my face in order to get it to shine through. Since I’m not caking it on I also feel it gives my face a much more natural looking finish. Yes, the price is a smidge up there but it’s worth it for me knowing that I won’t be going through it quickly. I highly recommend trying this out if you’re looking for a new bronzer. Also I’ll admit… it’s heavenly smell is also pretty boss.
If your interested in trying out Too Faced’s Chocolate Soleil Matte bronzer for yourself you can check out their website below. Just a reminder when choosing bronzer you want to go 1-2 shades darker than your natural skin tone.
If you don’t want to order online you can check out your local Sephora or Ulta. I’m sure the can hook you up!
Don’t for get to comment below and share your experience with Too Faced’s matte bronzer if you have used it before. Also let me know if you found this post helpful of if there are things you wish I would have included. I’m always looking for input in order to improve GrimmGirl!
