NYX Lingerie Lipstick Review

*Since the original publication of this post I have learned that NYX is owned by L’Oreal. L’Oreal is a company that test their beauty products. To learn more about what this means for NYX Costmetics and why I will no longer review their products on GrimmGirl please read IS NYX Cosmetics Cruelty Free? Turns Out… Not Exactly.

It is time for another makeup review! Just in case you’re new around here I ONLY support cruelty free products on GrimmGirl! No lipstick in the world is worth testing on little animals in my opinion so let’s help our furry friends and focus on the amazing cruelty free options available.

Today I’m going to be discussing NXY Cosmetics Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in shade Corset. They describe their product as:

“…Our new weightless liquid lipstick with a plush matte finish. Available in a range of color-kissed nudes- from cinnamon pink and chocolate brown, to warm mahogany red, and classic nude beige- each sultry shade will coat the curves of your lips with irresistibly creamy color.”

Sigh….

I have so much to say right now and I don’t even know where to begin. So let’s just start out with the cons so we can at least end on a good note with some pros.

Cons:

The first thing I noticed before I even put this product on was the applicator. It’s terrible.

Seriously, what is this? It is literally just a stick! This does not make for easy application at all! I’m super curious as to the logic behind this applicator stick. Is it suppose to be more precise or something? If so it failed at that miserably. I found it a little frustrating to apply onto my lips to be honest.

The second thing I noticed was the color. In the store I thought it would look really good on me. I was expecting I really nice nude. Sadly there is just something about the undertone of this color that just did not work for my skin tone. I personally think it makes me look a bit drowned out. I wore it multiple times and I just could not get comfortable with this shade. No matter what I did makeup wise I just could not get it to mesh with my skin tone.

NYX Corset Liquid Lipstick

The third thing I noticed was how it felt on my lips. I’m going to be honest. It wasn’t good. They say it’s a “weightless liquid lipstick” but I’m calling bullshit. I refuse to believe that I am the only one who was not impressed with how it felt on me. I was very aware the entire day that I was wearing lipstick because it felt so heavy and sticky on me. This lipstick refused to dry completely and I really hate that feeling.

Pros:

It was only $7.00

That’s really it for me on pros to be fair. Well the price and the fact that it’s cruelty free. Yay animals!

Summary:

Honestly I am not a fan of this liquid lipstick. Obviously I love that it is cruelty free and price wise $7.00 is pretty damn good but I cannot get over the cons. I hate the applicator, I hate the color for my skin tone, and I hate how it feels on me. I have tried other NYX Cosmetics products with much better results and obviously you know from my That’s When I Realized All Other Lipsticks Were Dead To Me… review on Jeffree Star’s Velour Liquid Lipstick in Celebrity Skin that I am not above spending a little extra money on a product if it does the job right! So personally I would rather just buy another Jeffree product and spend a little extra 😛

So what about you? Have you every tried NXY Cosmetics Lingerie Lipstick? Comment below with your experience! Also let me know if you found this review helpful. I’m always looking to review my writing style to be as helpful as possible to anyone stopping by.

  1. I love NYX normal lipsticks but haven’t tried the liquid ones, it’s a shame it wasn’t great. I know what you mean about the colour, I have one nude lipstick and seriously it looks like I’ve just swiped concealer over my lips-it actually makes me look ill not a good look haha x

    1. There is just something about the lingerie formula that is just not working. Their Suede liquid lip is much better. I’ll have to do a review on that soon. Yeah when I put this on I was like, “Annnnd I look like a corpse…. Not the look I was going for.” Lol I’m sure I could find a shade that would work better with my skin tone but it doesn’t seem worth it with all the other issues this lipstick has 😦
