Melted. Melted Right Off.

It’s been a minute since I last talked makeup; so I thought I’d better get on that. I am pretty obsessed with lipstick, specifically liquid lipsticks. So of course it was only a matter of time before I tried Too Faced cosmetics Melted Liquid Lipstick. I purchased it in shade Villain because who can resist such a delicious purple?

Quick color swatch. I love that dark purple!

Too Faced describes their product as:

“…the staying power of a stain and the intense color of a liquid lipstick in one long-wear formula.”

Whelp. At least part of that was true…

Let’s dive into the cons of this lipstick and end on a good note with some pros.

Cons:

It’s not long lasting. There is just no other way to say it. The thing I adore about a liquid lipstick is that it usually has the ability to stand up to a little wear and tear so to speak. Yes, you’ll have to reapply a little after eating and drinking but while going about your day-to-day life it generally stays put.

This literally melted off my face when worn alone! I swear with every syllable I spoke a little bit more came off. I don’t mean just my inner lip had to be retouched I mean I would look in the mirror and be like, “Annnnd there’s nothing there… Again. God damnit.” I blame the fact that this lipstick never seems to actually dry. I hate that!

The second thing I wasn’t a fan of was the applicator. I found it hard to get the right amount out. Squeeze to lightly and not enough came out but if you squeezed to hard too much came out. I ended up applying it with my lipstick brush just to get it on more precisely.

Pros:

I’m sure at this point you are pretty curious about what my pros could be at this point but I do have one.

Blending.

Good heavens, is this lipstick perfect for blending! I love creating ombre lips so this is a big deal for me. I don’t know what it is but blending it out with another lipstick and adding a little eye shadow over it seemed to solve it’s melting problem along with looking amazing. My theory is that the eye shadow helps it to dry out.

Used Jeffree Star’s Velour Liquid Lipstick in shade Weirdo to create this ombre.

Close up of my lips. I also patted a light purple eyeshadow over my Villain Liquid Lipstick to dry it out and help it last.

Melted Lipsticks comes in 18 different shades so the ombre lip possibilities for me are endless. Since mixing it with another lipstick and patting it dry with an eye shadow solved my longevity problem I wouldn’t call it a complete loss.

Summary

So would I recommend buying this product? It depends on what you’re looking for. If you are looking for a stand-alone liquid lipstick that you can count on to last this product is not for you. At $21.00 you can find another liquid lipstick that lives up to it’s name of long lasting at the same price if not cheaper.

If you are looking for a lipstick that is easy to blend with another in order to create some unique looks I would give this a try. Again keep in mind that I highly suggest patting some eye shadow over it in order to dry it out.
